Julia Guerriero, Director of Youth Education
Julia Guerriero is an artist, outdoor enthusiast and educator who enjoys sharing her passion for art and nature with students of all ages. Her experience in STEAM education includes roles ranging from K-12 Art Teacher to Outdoor Educator as well as multiple leadership roles at afterschool programs in Vermont.
Julia’s approach emphasizes creating inclusive and trauma-informed learning environments where students can connect deeply with each other and the world around them as well as develop leadership skills and explore the crosscutting concepts and deep questions presented by the intersection of art and environmental science. Her work is driven by a commitment to accessibility and decolonizing education, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive in and beyond the classroom.
Julia’s love for nature has been a lifelong influence, guiding her to roles that integrate environmental education with creative learning. Her dedication to fostering curiosity and self-directed learning in outdoor settings aligns closely with her belief that nature is an ideal space for growth and exploration. Through her work she aims to empower young people to become thoughtful stewards of the environment and engaged members of their communities. She is delighted to join the team at Sage Mountain and looks forward to continuing and expanding the Afterschool in Nature Program here.
